Anupama Kotha is a second year medical student in the inaugural class at Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine (HWCOM) at Florida International University. She received an M.S. in Molecular Medicine from the University of South Florida and a B.A. in Public Policy from Duke University.
Anupama is the founding president of the HWCOM chapter of the American Medical Association and Florida Medical Association. She serves as the Community Service Chair for the Medical Student Section of the Florida Medical Association.
Anupama’s strong interest in research began in high school where she developed a six-year cancer research project that culminated with a first-author publication. She was designated as a Howard Hughes Medical Institute Research Fellow at Duke where she focused on intellectual property regarding genomic technology. Anupama also conducted electrophysiology research on retinal plasticity at Albert Einstein College of Medicine as a Summer Undergraduate Research Program scholarship recipient.
